Citizen Information

There are several things you can do to ensure we can provide the help you need when you dial 9-1-1.

  • Among the most critical is to post your address number where it is readily seen from the road, preferable at your driveway, visible from both directions of travel. Using large reflective numbers is always helpful - think of someone who does not know you trying to find your home in an emergency, make it as easy and obvious as possible. The address ordinance for Elmore County is here.

  • Be prepared to provide your address or location if using a cell phone. We get a location of your phone but it may be up to 300 meters from where you are and still meet FCC regulations. That is over 3 football fields and may not be close enough to find you in a subdivision or mobile home park.

A good location can be a simple as "In front of Wetumpka High School" but just saying "In front of the High School" does not specify a particular location and we will have to ask you to clarify which high school, or Chevron Station, or other such locations that may have more than one in the County.

Call or email if you would like a speaker for your group. The 9-1-1 Staff will bring free gifts and information to distribute.
